When growing up.
There was a song that we sang regularly and knew by heart.
Abraham’s blessings are mine x2
I am blessed in the morning.
I am blessed in the evening.
Abraham's blessings are mine.
When prompted, we sang it at the top of our voices.
With a huge smile on our faces.
We felt blessed.
Now that you are grown, if there is one thing that you know.
It is the reality of responsibility.
Even for things that are a gift to you.
When advising people on purpose, one of the things that I tell them is this.
The fact that God approved you to do something doesn’t mean that it will be easy.
It is very important that you understand this.
It would greatly improve the relationship that you have with God.
This was what Apostle Paul was trying to get the Philippian church to understand.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. - Philippians 2:12-13 ESV
Through his sacrifice on the cross, Jesus Christ made salvation freely available to us.
But you need to work out.
Through prayer, fellowship, and a study of the Word. So that you don’t suffer from things that Jesus has already died for.
For example, healing was made available to us through the stripes of Jesus.
Divine health is meant to be your portion.
Understanding Covenant
The Oxford Dictionary gave this definition of a covenant.
A formal agreement, contract, or promise in writing.
The Bible documents all the covenants that God has with us.
And he didn’t just use words, he went to great lengths to show his commitment.
When making the covenant with Abraham, God himself came down and walked between the pieces of the animals used for the sacrifice.
When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the halves of the carcasses. - Genesis 15:17
And when God saw that Man needed redemption.
He didn’t hesitate to send his only Son to die for us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- John 3:16
With that said, let me address one of the things that can affect your ability to unlock the benefits of the covenant.
Lessons From The Story Of Joseph & Reuben
Reuben was the first Son of Jacob.
The next in line for being a bearer of the blessings that comes with the covenant.
But after dishonoring his father, he lost his birthright.
Every child of God carries the Kingship and Priesthood blessing.
But the firstborn of every family has the privilege of carrying something extra.
The birthright.
The birthright is meant to serve as a multiplier effect for the default blessings that we all carry.
After defiling his Father’s bed by sleeping with his Father’s concubine, Jacob cursed him.
The loss for Reuben was even greater because Israel was not the average family.
They were the custodian of God’s covenant.
So his blessings were shared among his brothers.
Joseph got the birthright.
Levi got the priesthood.
And the Kingship went to Judah.
This should let you know that dishonor carries serious consequences.
It is important that you honor not just your parents, but the people that God has sent to help you on your journey.
Long life is also added bonus.
Honoring your parents is a commandment that has a promise attached to it.
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. - Exodus 20:12
It is important that you don’t dishonor your parents.
The issue with Joseph was pride (ego).
He boasted so much about his dreams that it made his brothers hate him.
The fact that he became their fathers favorite didn’t help matters.
This was one of the things that God wanted to eliminate from the life of Joseph.
One of the most dangerous prayers that you can pray is;
Lord humble me
God doesn’t humble people, he humiliates them.
Pride always reminds God of the devil, so he doesn’t joke with it.
God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. - 1st Peter 5:5b
By the time Joseph was done with his wilderness experience.
He was humble in every way.
That’s why when he came before Pharoah, he refused to acknowledge that he was the one that interpreted dreams.
He gave the glory to God.
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.
“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” - Genesis 41:15 -16
At that point, Joseph was a man entirely dead to himself.
Getting to this point without the wilderness experience is possible if you constantly review your life and eliminate things that hold you back.
We have a covenant with God that ensures our joy, prosperity, health, etc.
From time to time, things come up that affects our ability to tap into those benefits.
It is never God, we are the ones that determine what we get access to at all times.
Make sure that you are on the right path at all times.
God bless you.

Have a great weekend.
Salvation is a personal journey.
I have learned in these past few years that we can not do it without the help of the Holy Spirit.
He needs to be with us as we work out our salvation.
Shalom.
Truly, pride, disobedience, ignorance, dishonour and laziness can hinder us from receiving all Christ died to give us. May God help us to stand firm in our faith🙌
